bryce canyon

Bryson got in a fight with the cement and the cement won. We went up Mill creek canyon with friends and Bryson tripped and landed on his face on the cement. He split his lip open and scraped up the side of his face.

at our campsite in Bryce canyon, Bryson had fun chasing chipmunks, getting into trouble and eating dirt.

Our family on a hike to see a waterfall and a mossy cave.

I found a couple of lizards basking in the sun and I caught one for bryson to see. they're quick little buggers. bryson liked holding it too. it squirmed away quick when bryson was holding it.

Mommy and Brson waiting for the shuttle to take us to the different stops in Bryce canyon. He doesn't normally let us put a hat on him. He apparently doesn't mind it when we are outside.

Dad and Bryson on a hike in Bryce canyon.
Scenic view at Bryce
another great view. Those rock formations are called hoodoos. they are formed from millions of years of water soaking into the rocks, freezing in the winter and breaking off pieces. the reason they form these spires is because they are covered by a harder more durable layer that does not let water penetrate the lower more brittle layers. Bryce canyon has the highest concentration of hoodoos of any part of the world. pretty cool, Huh Joel?

on our hike, Bryson got tired and fell asleep in the backpack. I carried him about two miles while he was sleeping.

Before

After. what do you think?

Sunday, April 20, 2008

Uh Oh! I've been caught.
yummy! bark in the park!
three geese in the park with nothing better to do than to pretend to be flamingos.
Yes, I'm sitting in the water.

Derek Zoolander eat your heart out.
I leave for a minute and bryson thinks he should be helping with dishes.

Bryson discovered that leaves and dirt are fun to eat, so we went for a ride.
Bryson loves the horse that he got from his step great grandmother.

Moving the wagon

I'm so excited. I finally got to move the M-37 into the shop. Giddy as a school boy.
Wade may have a bigger grin than me. We used his Dodge to move my Dodge
windows, windshields, top, all there.
the tires still hold air and the benches and back rests are still there.
Here is the straight six that powers the beast.
look at how small the air cleaner is.
three sticks on the transfer case. what more could a boy want? I believe one of them engages the Winch.
I'm going to have to re-upholster the seats.
she's finally where I can work on her.

Bryson's Cool Hair

Bryson and I were down in Orem today where my cool friend Emily snapped a couple shots of him with a "faux-hawk"...she did it not me!

Oldies but Goodies

These were from last June when Bryson was about a month old.

Wade and I spent most of this saturday reinforcing the top floor of the shed. I think we did a spectacular job.
it was fun.
Bryson got ITP. it is a childhood auto-immune disorder that only happens once. We rushed him to Primary Childrens hospital after a doctor friend told us to. he spent one night in the hospital and was given prednazone (a steroid) to suppress his immune system. his immune system needed to be suppressed because it was attacking his blood platelets. platelets aid in clotting blood. Bryson's body wasn't clotting when he had injuries, hence the bruising.
If we didn't get him to the hospital, he could have bled internally and that would have been bad.
his platelet count was down to 2,000. normal is 145,000 to 400,000.
our old college friends came to see us and they all brought their kids.
Mom and Brysie on a nice, snowy Superbowl sunday. We got 5" in the morning and I shoveled for about an hour and a half.
It's been snowing so much lately that we don't have room for snow anymore. you see that pile on the right? yeah, that's our fence. all of the snow now gets shoveled into the neighbor's yard.
Two of the first casualties of the best christmas dinner ever.
family picture time in Bremerton.
